About Cosheston Mission Church

Cosheston Mission was built originally by the main Baptist Union Church in Pembroke in the mid 1800's as a mission outreach in the village of Cosheston (from where it gets its title). In the early 1960's it became an Independant Church but retained the name Cosheston Mission. Over the years it had been opened and closed on a number of occassions but since it reopened in the early 1960's it has remained open.

In 1992 it called its first full-time Pastor, The Rev. Norman Gilbert who was originally from the Village and trained for 3 years in what was then known as The Evangelical Theological College of Wales.

The Pastor has since moved back into the Village and is involved in community life including the Village VC School.

The Church has allowed the Pastor to extend his ministry over the years.  In the past, The Pastor was chaplain on CCIW camps and was a chaplain representing Seamen's Friends Society, and has taught Church leaders in Africa for the Middle East Reformed Fellowship. He also frequently takes services in other Churches of all denominations in the area.

As a Church our focus in worship is to glorify God through Jesus Christ in a reverent manner. We preach Christ crucified believing the Bible message is relevant to all ages and types of every era. The preaching of Scripture is central to our services, trusting the Holy Spirit to apply it to the hearts of all so the Gospel can be effective to impact lives in our families and communities.

The Church has two elders, working alongside our pastor Rev. Norman Gilbert, David Hicks (also Church Secretary telephone No. 01834 812932) and Jeremy Evans.
